My favorite lady at the north Menards service desk told me yesterday that APRIL 8TH is the day the new store is scheduled to open. It's starting to look pretty bleak in some of their departments as they get moved from old to new.

Some of them, I swear, you could even have a dance there if you chose!

We've always heard the old store is sort of a dinosaur among Menards stores but the new one is supposed to be even bigger than the south one. Gonna have to get used to finding things in new places but once we do it'll still be a favorite place to shop.



Friday Night 'Sit

We had some fun with Charlie last night.

He and Jill had a see-who-can-open-their-mouth-the-widest contest. I think it was a tie!

He's still loving one of his favorite birthday presents.

We sure had a lot of fun stacking blocks...........annnnnnnd knocking them down!

Good supper with Tony and Tricia at the Down Under afterwards too!



Look Before You Leap!

Okay people. Pay attention! Learn something from my missteps.

On March 17th I picked out just the right size hunk of cheese at the grocery store. But......I didn't read the label and when I came to cut the cheese (ha!) I noticed some mold on the edges. The label said it should've been sold by March 15th! Today I bought gas at a KwikTrip I don't usually frequent because it was four cents a gallon cheaper than over by our house. I always pick the nozzle on the right because I'm used to that being the cheapest one where I shop. This KwikTrip had its nozzles in reverse order so instead of saving four cents a gallon I ended up spending twenty-four more! I'm gonna say this is just inattention, not anything to do with old age! :)

Not sure how much Irish is in either one of us but it was a good excuse to go for a green beer yesterday.

Awesome App!

If you have an iPad and you like jigsaw puzzles I have just the app for you! It's called Magic Jigsaw Puzzles. I haven't put a puzzle together in years although I keep saying I'd like to. One of the reasons I haven't is that it takes up so much space and usually for a long time. 

I suppose purists would pooh-pooh this electronic version of an age old pastime but for my purposes it's perfect. Probably my favorite download so far!



This Is What Age Does!

Here's a young buck and a brand new pumpkin back in October.

Now I'm not saying Charlie has turned into an old lady in that time frame but here's what's happened to the pumpkin since then.

We finally threw it out the other day because it was a little soft on the bottom. Good thing people don't get thrown away because this gal's a little soft in the head! :)

Yesterday we celebrated our littlest Greats first birthday.

He had a little help opening his presents.

I think a favorite one was the little car he can ride and push while he gets his walking legs on.

Tony and Tricia had made Very Hungry Caterpillar cupcakes for the birthday boy.

He played with his cake for quite awhile. Not sure he knew what he was supposed to do with it!

But he figured it out...

...just like all one year olds do!

We have rare opportunities to get pictures of all four Greats together so we grabbed onto this one.

We all join in to wish you a happy birthday all over again,

Jill's got these funky reading glasses that work well for computer work.

Whenever she's wearing them I think of Harry Caray! Don't know him? Used to be a baseball announcer for the Cubs.

Birthday #1

Big day on our family birthday calendar. First off, we must wish a happy birthday to my sister, Cher.

She got the best birthday present last year when Little Charlie came along!

On the calendar it's just over two weeks until Spring. What's the landscape looking like at your house? It looks like January around here!

Jill said they have a wind chill alert going on down in Texas. It's going to feel like 25-30 degrees...that's a-BOVE zero, folks, and they're calling it "dangerously cold". They're advising to dress in layers and watch out for frostbite.

We here up north are looking forward to the warm up of those kinds of days. 31 on Sunday, 39 on Monday. Yay!


Polar Blast Is On Her Way!

Jill's new nickname is "Polar Blast". She's headed for Texas and they must have known she was coming because the headlines there are "Late season polar blast arriving tonight." It's 89 down there today but by tomorrow the high is going to be 44! Looks rainy and cool all week...right up until the day she returns and the forecast is for sunny and 72!

Never thought we'd still be saying happy brrrrrrrrrrr-thday yet in March. But there it is!

Ready? Set. Shop!

We made use of our Community Days coupon books yesterday at Herbergers.

We'd purchased them in support of Royal Family Kids Camp of Mankato. We don't usually shop there but sort of an odd thing I found was Timothy's decaf K Cups that I really like but haven't found anywhere since they discontinued them at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Thanks Kate and Brian!

Future Surgeon?

While Jill, Angela and another friend, Amy, cooked in the kitchen Cate had a paint project going on. Looks more like she just came out of an operating room scene on Grey's Anatomy!

When Jill started going through stuff in the basement she came across this old picture. Do these guys look familiar to anyone?!

I think it might be Brian's first day going to first grade. If anyone would like to correct me, please do. But that's Maya's dad on the left and Natalie and Harvey's dad on the right!



Wronnnnng Answer!

We have DirecTv and it hasn't been working right since the blizzard last Thursday.

There may be some snow on it but there are also some codes that come up that are the same as another time when they had to come out to do an adjustment and tighten some wires. The 800 number must have been in California or Florida or Arizona because they pretty much said we can't help you, you'll have to wait until Spring. The local number we called doesn't have anyone available until late on Thursday. Time to switch back to Charter?
