Who's Two?

A year ago Harvey was our toothless wonder.
Today, as he turns two, he's got some mighty fine toofers and is growing to be such a sweet little boy!
Happy birthday, Harvey!

Still Smiling!

I don't have a lot of time anymore to take pictures of the girls. And especially today when they slept in...6:30 is nearly unheard of, at least on the days I'm there. But they've still got lots of smiles, and today, a kiss and a hug. I love you girls!

Belated But Not All My Fault!

(I wanted to post this sooner but Blogger hasn't been letting me add videos. I finally pursued it a little further and found I needed to change one of my settings in order to do that.)

Last Thursday we went down to the street festival for supper and to hear the announcement for the Sunday night Down By The Riverside concerts. The concert that followed the announcement was AWESOME! It was The Buckinghams, a group from the 60's that still sounds really good. This guy isn't one of the originals but he was my favorite.
He just seemed to always have a smile on his face and looked like he really enjoyed what he was doing.
You might remember "Don't You Care?". Check out the guy in the coral turtle neck dancing down in front. Cher described him as our town's own Hugh Hefner. He kept trying to get any gal from the crowd to come dance with him.
They had a great horn section that paid good tribute to another band from Chicago that's named, quite appropriately....Chicago. All the covers they did sounded almost like they could be the original artists. They saved their best known song, "Kind Of A Drag", 'til last and it was worth the wait!
My opinion is this concert is going to be the best of the whole summer series. There weren't too many of the others that piqued my interest. The Concert Band and Paul Revere and The Raiders are the only other ones I know I'll go to for sure. But I'm certainly glad I didn't miss The Buckinghams. I thought I liked 70's music pretty good but maybe my heart is in the 60's.

Happy Father's Day!

Dad's big adventure this Father's Day is to try a Subway sandwich on flatbread instead of the regular stuff. We like it, I hope he does too!

Happy Day, Dad!!!

Birthday Party 2011

With Natalie's birthday on the 4th and Harvey's on the 25th it makes perfect sense to have one party on the 11th. When I saw the stack of packages I thought it was Christmas! Harvey has a new friend in Thomas The Train.Natalie was pretty excited about a new scooter but Boppa Du said there were too many parts to put it together just then. Harvey got the cutest little mower that I think Grandma Jayne was jealous of because it starts so easy!

There was even a game those of an older generation were having some fun at.Natalie's cake was Hello Kitty.

And Harvey's was an Elmo one that his mom made. ( I think Mindy should go into the business!)Poor Harvey was getting so tired. It was well past his nap time when he left the party for his bed.But Natalie was still going strong and ate a pretty good slice of cake after which she gave me her best Pinkalicious smile.

Break Of Dawn

This is what we do at 5:00 in the morning when the girls decide it's time to get up...play with babies on the steps.I had some things along to do for the day but Claire decided painting nails would be fun.
First the fingers......then the toes. And there does get to be more polish on the toes than on the nails! It was cool enough and early enough that there wasn't anyone at the park when we got there but before we left we'd met some new friends.

Right Place, Right Time

I was checking out my webcams tonight and saw the Aerial Lift Bridge on it's way up so I stuck around and caught the American Century on it's way out of town.

And, exhibiting atypical patience, I waited around even longer for the Federal Power to make it's way into the harbor.

Actually, when it comes to ships I could probably wait all day just to see one!

Date Night

Friday night was a very special date night for Jon and Mindy. They were celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary! Holy cow, time flies!

We and the kids had just gotten our Burger King meal all set up when Mindy called back and said the ice cream truck is on it's way. So we went out to watch for it but ended up having to traipse all the way down to the end of the block since the last time he didn't come up their street either.

It was worth the trip, though. Natalie got her birthday cake ice cream sandwich... ...and Harvey had a pushup kind of thing.
(He looks like a little man with a goatee!)

I tried a bubble gum icee on a stick and I think Jill had a drumstick.

We tried for a group photo but Natalie's in a stick-out-your-tongue-when-the-camera's-on stage so I decided to just go with it!

We tried a different setting outside but Harvey wanted to sit with me in the worst way...

So we settled for this.
We adults were a little lax at bedtime and if Natalie hadn't been the adult she would've gone to sleep in her clothes without her Pullup on or her teeth brushed! (You just can't get good help these days!)

Backyard Beauty

This weekend I saw a reflection in the window of something going by outside the sunroom. It's the time of year when the deer turn that really pretty tawny brown. And this guy has the start of a set of antlers too. We see a lot more does than bucks in our neighborhood so it's a treat when these fellows stroll by.

It's About Time

I thought it was time to do a little trimming yesterday...

...whether it needed it or not!
