(I wanted to post this sooner but Blogger hasn't been letting me add videos. I finally pursued it a little further and found I needed to change one of my settings in order to do that.)
Last Thursday we went down to the street festival for supper and to hear the announcement for the Sunday night Down By The Riverside concerts. The concert that followed the announcement was AWESOME! It was The Buckinghams, a group from the 60's that still sounds really good. This guy isn't one of the originals but he was my favorite.
He just seemed to always have a smile on his face and looked like he really enjoyed what he was doing.
You might remember "Don't You Care?". Check out the guy in the coral turtle neck dancing down in front. Cher described him as our town's own Hugh Hefner. He kept trying to get any gal from the crowd to come dance with him.
They had a great horn section that paid good tribute to another band from Chicago that's named, quite appropriately....Chicago. All the covers they did sounded almost like they could be the original artists. They saved their best known song, "Kind Of A Drag", 'til last and it was worth the wait!
My opinion is this concert is going to be the best of the whole summer series. There weren't too many of the others that piqued my interest. The Concert Band and Paul Revere and The Raiders are the only other ones I know I'll go to for sure. But I'm certainly glad I didn't miss The Buckinghams. I thought I liked 70's music pretty good but maybe my heart is in the 60's.
